Telling the stories of revolutionary holy women and exploring issues in intersectional ecofeminism

We're Halfway Through Women's History Month!

We’re just over halfway through March, and the Holy Women Icons Project has been busy celebrating Women’s History Month in so many different ways!

Every day we feature a different revolutionary historical woman on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The Alliance of Baptists has partnered with us to share these daily features, as well. And our Administrative Director, Dr. Elizabeth Lee, designed a fabulous poster that features these revolutionary women. Order a copy for yourself on a card, print, or coffee cup by clicking here! It also makes a great gift for the revolutionaries in your life.

We kicked off the month by taking the Revolutionary Girls program into a 6th grade class, where adolescents learned about revolutionary historical women from six different continents as a part of their world geography lesson. Talk about an inspirational map!

On March 15, our Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber, gave a lecture, book signing, and pop-up art show celebrating Holy Women Icons in Women’s History Month at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

We’ve also been on a podcast tour by interviewing with NPR’s Progressive Spirit, Touch podcast, and a local podcast, Lava Tube. It has been a delight to share some of the revolutionary historical women we paint and write about with these exciting audiences; stay tuned for air dates!

Women’s History Month has been a great time to offer some fabulous sales. Get 31% OFF all merchandise at Fine Art America using promo code RGXBPN (in honor of the 31 days of Women’s History Month)! Plus, get $100 OFF all original icons during the month of March…that’s only $250 per painting!

And some of our historical holy women icons have been featured on Feminism and Religion and Bearings Magazine this month!

Finally, HWIP has some fundraising goals for Women’s History Month. To celebrate 31 days of the month, we’re trying to get 31 different people to commit to organizing a Facebook Fundraiser; so far, we’ve had 14 amazing people begin their fundraisers and we could not be more grateful! Thank you! If you would be interested in setting up a Facebook Fundraiser, which only takes about 5 minutes, simply let us know and we can give you simple step-by-step instructions. Plus, we’d love to get 31 more dollars in monthly patronage through Patreon. This could be one person who donates $31 per month, 5 people who donate $5 and one who donates $6, 2 who donate $10 and one $11…you get the idea! For less than the cost of one meal at a restaurant, you could help us tell the stories of revolutionary women through art, writing, and special events! And Patreon makes it easy to set up monthly donations with just a few simple clicks! Plus, we’re a non-profit, so all donations are tax deductible!

So, check out the revolutionary women we’re celebrating on social media, read a few articles, listen to a podcast, purchase some HWIP merchandise with our fabulous discount codes, and consider making a donation or setting up a Facebook Fundraiser to help us celebrate Women’s History Month!
