Celebrate Women's History Month

Happy Women’s History Month! Stay tuned all month as we celebrate Women’s History Month in creative ways.

From feminist spirituality + art therapy workshops to publishing announcements, studio sales to retreats, A LOT is going on with the Tehom Center! I’m so grateful YOU’RE a part of it!

Below are some of my favorite quotes about women’s history to inspire you this month…

“Walk the streets with us into history. Get up off the sidewalk.”

-Delores Huerta, American activist for women’s rights and farmworker rights who coined the phrase, “Si, se puede,” or “Yes, we can!”

“Women’s history is the primary tool for women’s emancipation.”

-Gerda Lerner, one of the founders of the academic field of women's history. In 1963, while still an undergraduate at the New School for Social Research, she taught "Great Women in American History", which is considered to be the first regular college course on women's history offered anywhere.

“You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I'll rise.”

-From Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise.” Angelou was a writer, poet, dancer, actress, and activist. Fun fact: she was professor emeritus at Wake Forest when I was teaching there!
